Gary is now with his Skynyrd brothers and family in heaven and playing it pretty, like he always does, the band said in a statement

Dale Krantz Rossington is the female lead vocalist for the Rossington Collins Band. She is married to American guitarist Gary Robert Rossington.

It was not immediately clear what the musicians cause of death was.

U.S. singer and songwriter Gary Rossington, a founding member of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, died over the weekend at the age of 71.

Rossington was Lynyrd Skynyrd's final surviving founding member. With his death, we look back on a few other bands with no living founders.

His death was confirmed by an agent Ken Levitan
