(Mainichi) TOKYO Some 163 workers at two horse training centers in Japan inappropriately accepted more than 190 million yen (about $1.74 million) in financial support for firms affected by the coronavirus, the Japan Racing Association (JRA) announced on March 6. A total of 165 trainers, assistant trainers, groomers, jockeys and other staff at training centers in the west Japan city of Ritto, Shiga Prefecture, and the east Japan village of Miho, Ibaraki Prefecture, received funds from the national government s subsidy program to sustain small- and medium-sized businesses, the JRA said. Of those, 163 were deemed to have inappropriately received the funds.
