Oyster Bay Music Festival Celebrates 10 Years!

Cost: Free Event Description From June 27-July 6, the Oyster Bay Musical Festival (OBMF), will celebrate its 10th anniversary with 12 concerts free and open to the public. This series showcases the talents of 25 prize winning classical artists from top conservatories such as Juilliard, Eastman, and Yale, and will include 18-year old pianist, Maxim Lando, First Place Winner of the prestigious Young Concert Artists International Competition. OBMF concerts will be held at the most beautiful locations along the North Shore, including Planting Fields, Chelsea Mansion, Cedarmere Estate, Raynham Hall, the Nassau County Museum of Art, and more. A concert not to be missed is the OBMF guest artist concert (our only ticketed event through Planting Fields), "Oyster Bay Music Festival and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra at Planting Fields" on July 2nd at 7PM. LongHouse Reserve Presents: Jack, Larger than Life

Cost:    10 Description Join LongHouse Reserve this Saturday, June 26 at 5pm for the opening reception of Jack, Larger than Life, an exhibition celebrating the extraordinary life and work of LongHouse founder Jack Lenor Larsen.  Honoring Jack's generous, generative spirit, this exhibition is an invitation to "open eyes to alternatives."   His innovative textiles are presented side by side with his various "enthusiasms," the objects of craft and art he assiduously gathered, as well as the clothing he collected and wore. Over 100 objects from the several thousand in LongHouse Reserve's collection are juxtaposed with Jack's pronouncements and videotapes of his interviews.   Nearly fifty iconic Larsen textile lengths fill the gallery with color, texture, and pattern, including major commissions such as Leverlin for Lever House, New York's first International Style high rise; Swazi Drapery for the Wolf Trap Theater; and Magnum, with light-reflecting mirror Mylar, for the Phoenix Opera House.

Cost: Free Event Description Chris Coffee’s boutique Sage and Madison, opened its beautiful garden on Sage Street to patrons on May 15, and an idea was born. “Local author—from right down the block—Stacy Dermont was here with us for the afternoon signing copies of The Hamptons Kitchen, along with the cookbook’s photographer Barbara Lassen. Local farmers and artists and neighbors dropped in to say ‘hi’ and grab a lemonade. It was great!,” says Coffee. Coffee has decided to launch a series of “sip and shop” events at the boutique. On a given day, for a couple golden hours, Coffee will donate 10% of profits from sales to a local nonprofit. The “sipping” will be non-alcoholic—patrons can purchase an iced tea, iced coffee, or lemonade, from the takeout window.
