Germany, Britain donate COVID-19 equipment to BARMM

Published January 21, 2021, 1:07 PM ZAMBOANGA CITY – Medical services received a boost after Germany and the United Kingdom donated COVID-19 equipment and medical vehicles to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Ministry of Health (MOH) last Wednesday. OIC Health Minister Dr. Ameril Usman (left), IOM sub-office head Hwakyun Kim (center), and Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Zul Qarneyn Abas, show the signed donation acceptance documents on Wednesday, Jan 20. (Nonoy Lacson / MANILA BULLETIN) MOH officer-in-charge Health Minister Dr. Ameril Usman said the donation was an act of moral governance as they help the BARMM uplift the lives of the Bangsamoro. Usman said the German government donated 35 solar generators, three land ambulances, and one sea ambulance while the British government donated three units of biosafety refrigerators and three cold chain vehicles through the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) “prepare, prevent, and protect” approach in mitigating impacts of the pandemic to vulnerable sectors communities in Mindanao.

The sinking motorboat ML “Queen Shaima 3” off Lampinigan Island in Isabela City, Basilan province (via Nonoy Lacson / MANILA BULLETIN) NavForWem Commander Commodore Toribio D. Adaci Jr said naval forces came to the aid of ML Queen Shaima 3, which was reported to have incurred a hole in its hull, causing water to get into its engine room.

Young crocodile captured at Turtle islands in Tawi-Tawi

Published December 16, 2020, 1:38 PM ZAMBOANGA CITY — A young saltwater crocodile was captured along the coast of Turtle islands in Tawi-Tawi  by local residents who failed to catch the elder crocodile after it swam into the deepest portion of the sea. Turtle Islands, Tawi-Tawi town officials headed by Mayor Mohammad Faizal H. Jamalul (center in white shirt) showed the reptile to the local residents of the village before he ordered the release of the young crocodile to the sea. Jamalul said  on Wednesday that a local resident of Barangay Likud Bakkaw captured the young crocodile at about 7 a.m., Monday near the shoreline of the village.

Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) in this city. Two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) sub-leaders and 13 of their members surrendered to soldiers of the Joint Task Force- Sulu (JTF-Sulu), according to Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) in this city. (Nonoy Lacson / MANILA BULLETIN) Vinluan identified on Saturday, December 12, the two ASG sub-leaders as Alvin Yusop, also known as Arab Puti, who was under senior leader Radulan Sahiron; and Barahim Nurjahar, who was under deceased senior leader Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan.
