Network Norfolk : Dereham Baptist Church becomes Covid test centre

Dereham church becomes Covid test centre Dereham Baptist Church in the High Street has become the latest centre where people not experiencing any symptoms of Covid can test for the virus. The centre opened on May 4 and will remain in action until May 14. It joins similar ones in Swaffham, Thetford, King s Lynn, Great Yarmouth, and Norwich. Anyone who wishes to get tested, can simply drop into the church and receive a lateral flow test. There is no need to book. The asymptomatic testing programme is being delivered locally in partnership between Breckland Council and Norfolk County Council s Public Health team.

From Tuesday, May 4, Dereham Baptist Church in the High Street will offer coronavirus tests for people not experiencing any symptoms of the virus. Anyone who wishes to get tested, can simply drop into the church and receive a lateral flow test. There is no need to book. Around one in three people who are infected with Covid-19 do not experience symptoms and so could be spreading the disease without knowing it.

Picture: Getty Images - Credit: Getty Images/iStockphoto Families are being encouraged to come forward to access symptom-free Covid testing, which is set to launch in Breckland next week.  The pop-up asymptomatic testing programme will initially be offered to people living in and around Watton, with the programme moving to sites around the district over the coming weeks.  Updates will be shared on Breckland Council’s website and social media pages, and the online booking webpage, to let people know when a pop-up testing site is coming to their area.
