MAINE TOWNSHIP, IL An 18-year-old man is dead and an 18-year-old woman was seriously injured in a shooting outside an apartment building on Thursday evening, police said.
The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. in a parking lot of a building on the 9600 block of North Greenwood Avenue in unincorporated Maine Township, officials from the Cook County Sheriff s Office said in a statement. The area is near both Niles and Glenview.
A gunman walked up to a car parked in a lot on the south side of the building and opened fire, striking both teens, police said. The man was shot in the head and later pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The women sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was also taken to Advocate Lutheran where she is listed in serious condition.
