NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – The life-saving efforts of a North Myrtle Beach firefighter and EMT were recognized Monday.
According to information from the city, the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau presented firefighter Jason Whedon with its Valor Award on Monday.
The annual award is given to a young professional “who is engaged in the community and demonstrates their passion for the community through leadership and other contributions,” a press relesae stated.
MYRTLE BEACH â There were 120 new business licenses and renewals in November in Myrtle Beach compared to 90 in November 2019.
Mark Kruea, spokesman for the city, said some month-to-month fluctuation is expected. However, the November growth number is indicative of how the cityâs fiscal year began, which was July 1.
Overall, in the cityâs fiscal year running from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, business license revenues were down 5 percent, Kruea said.
â. Our first quarter business license revenues this year are up 54 percent (about $1.2 million) over the same period last year (July-October),â Kruea said. âThatâs noteworthy, although Iâm not sure we can pinpoint specific reasons.â
