The coronavirus pandemic has delayed a future shopping center project at Fort Bragg, officials said.
The 83,000-square-foot Fort Bragg Freedom Crossing Entertainment Center was expected to break ground earlier this year, a spokesman for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, previously told The Fayetteville Observer.
“As commercial development has slowed as a result of the pandemic, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service has had to pause large projects for the short-term,” said Chris Ward, a spokesman for the Army & Air Force Exchange, this month, referring to the pandemic s economic impact.
The complex, which will be known as the Freedom Crossing at Fort Bragg Center, was approved by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s board of directors in November 2014.
