People visiting friends and family in Northern Ireland from the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands or Isle of Man will be exempt from a requirement to self-isolate from 24 May. New guidance states those exempt from self-isolation must take Covid-19 tests before departure and on later dates. The Northern Ireland Tourism Alliance described this as unmanageable .

Open House festival director Kieran Gilmore said the uncertainty around reopening was deeply frustrating . The music and events industry is being completely ignored by our executive, he added. It is frustrating for us to have so little guidance in Northern Ireland. The hospitality industry has been given dates at least - we have been given nothing.
