On Friday, the province announced the appointment of its newest provincial court judge, as an ongoing backlog of court cases continue to plague Nova Scotia's justice system.
While the trial wrapped up in a Nova Scotia provincial court in October 2021, a verdict was never handed down because the original trial judge went on a leave of absence.
"The increase in complexity of cases, the volume of cases, and the compliment, unfortunately, of judges, has not kept pace," said the chief judge of the provincial court.
