By-elections: Seven Wards contested in KZN Updated Nothando Mkhize Share this: Andrew Robertson Over 145 candidates from 29 political parties are set to contest 40 wards across South Africa on Wednesday. More than 362 000 people are registered to cast ballots. Ntombifuthi Masinga of the IEC in KZN says they re filling vacancies they couldn t fill last month. Seven of the wards being contested are in KZN and include Durban s ward 110 in Mount Moriah - where there were fears of registration fraud earlier this year. One person came in with a bag of IDs to check on behalf of voters that couldn t come to the voting station.
