The Senate blue ribbon committee has cited former Budget Undersecretary Christopher Lloyd Lao in contempt after the latter skipped another hearing by the panel into the government’s procurement of alleged overpriced medical supplies.

The order to stop officials and employees from the Executive department officials from attending the Senate investigation on the purchasing of allegedly overpriced medical supplies is not meant to defy the chamber’s authority, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Wednesday.
