Seacoast Garden Club greets spring with flowers, plants, gardens and pies
Portsmouth Herald
KENNEBUNK – Spring has sprung and members of the Seacoast Garden Club are greeting these warmer days with a flurry of seasonal activities.
On Thursday, April 29, 13 members gathered at Buffie Clarke’s home to assemble 93 May Baskets of fresh flowers for distribution to shut-ins, the elderly and garden club friends in the area.
Clarke, who has chaired this annual community outreach project for several years, appreciated the large array of colorful flowers that Seacoast members donated to the effort. She also noted that this year’s request for baskets was larger than in past years. Agencies receiving the bright baskets for distribution include Huntington Common, Atria and Home Instead, as well as various individuals.
