A shooting in midtown Ventura early Sunday left a man seriously injured, authorities said.
At around 2:06 a.m., a caller reported hearing several gunshots at Ocean Avenue Park, according to the Ventura Police Department. The small neighborhood park at 1590 Ocean Ave. is located on the north side of railroad tracks that parallel Vista Del Mar Drive east of Sanjon Road.
As patrol officers responded to the park, authorities learned a shooting victim had been taken to a local hospital by acquaintances. The male victim, a 35-year-old Ventura resident, had been shot multiple times and sustained life-threatening injuries, according to police. No update on his condition was available early Sunday afternoon.
