The European Commission has approved, under EU State aid rules, a Croatian aid scheme to support electricity production from renewable sources. The measure will help Croatia reach its renewable energy targets, including those set in its Recovery and Resilience plan, and contribute to the European objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050, without unduly distorting competition in the Single market.
AES Corporation has signed a 15-year agreement with Microsoft to support the company in achieving its 100/100/0 by 2030 goal. Microsoft will use the around-the-clock renewable energy provided through this agreement to power its data centers located in Virginia. The structure of the agreement utilizes both existing renewable projects under a long-term contract to Microsoft, while also adding additional renewable resources in the region.
The 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, situated in the central North Sea area known as Dogger Bank, will be one of the world s largest offshore wind farms. The project includes a 220 km 320kV high voltage DC offshore cables, running from the landfall area to the OCP as well as a shorter 7km onshore cable to connect from the landfall area to the onshore converter station.
NGK Insulators plans that all electricity used at its overseas bases will be converted to renewable energy sources by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. This measure forecasts that approximately 60% of all electricity used by the NGK Group as of the end of fiscal 2025 will derive from renewable energy sources, helping to cut about 330,000 tons of CO2 annually.
