COLUMBIA — A new law effective this week will require all South Carolina drivers convicted of driving under the influence — regardless of their Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level —

On Friday, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services (SCDPPPPS) announced a new DUI law.T

Currently, there are 1,185 drivers participating in the Ignition Interlock Device Program. This number is expected to more than double next year due to the new law.

The Michigan Supreme Court ruled that it was unfair to hold past offenders accountable for requirements in the newer version of the law.
