同調査は、子どもらに川に親しみ環境保全への関心を高めてもらおうと、１９８４年から続く取り組み。今年は２７日から８月２２日までの間、飯田市から辰野町までの天竜川水系計１２地点で実施する。
村内を流れる天竜川の天の中川橋付近での調査には、親子ら約４０人が参加。川底の石をひっくり返したり、川べりの草むらに網を入れたりして、生き物を探すのに熱中した。ヒラタカゲロウ類やブユ類、ヘビトンボなど水質の良い場所にすむ指標生物をたくさん発見。総合的には、この地点の水質は「きれい」と判断された。
駒ケ根市赤穂東小学校５年の児童は「捕まえたドジョウを、大事に育てたい。川にごみを捨てないようにしたい」と話した。
