I agree with your comments about the challenges, the situation being unacceptable, saying if we arent talking about the problems, we arent addressing them. Aggressively working in the great plains area. Members of the senate a couple weeks ago who werent on the committee such as senator thune were here because of the concern that we have with regard to the conditions of the Indian Health service in the great plains areas specifically. In fiscal year 2016 i know youve only been on the job for a short period ever Time Congress appropriated 2 million specifically to help address some of these emergent issues. Despite the dire conditions in the great plains area, it took the administration several months to even figure out what to do with the 2 million in appropriated funds. I know you werent there at the time. Meanwhile, the facilities in the area have lost their medicare provider status, on the verge of losing it. Sale of firearms and ammo and outlawed possession of handguns by all city residents. The law was struck down by the courts under a challenge by the nra. Then this week the board of supervisors passed mark farrells legislation that would require videotaping of all gun sales and the weekly reporting of ammo sales to the Police Department. Now, gun buyers here already have to fill out a detailed form, go through a background check and waiting period. But having a videotape of the purchase sending it to local police is one regulation too many according to the owner. What we dont do is voluntarily give private information to the Police Department voluntarily. We just dont do that. The people are very private about their information.
