Man dies after being hit in NE Portland crosswalk, police say

A 47-year-old man has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver earlier this month in Northeast Portland, police say.
Portland police said Faustino Jurado was believed to be operating a mobility scooter in a crosswalk at 122nd Avenue and Halsey Street on April 11 when the driver hit him.
Jurado was taken to a hospital for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said. But investigators learned April 24 that he had died.
Investigators obtained video footage showing the collision and involved vehicle, which appears to be a gray or silver 2002 to 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck with an extended cab.

Pedestrian killed in early-morning crash near Ross Island Bridge

A pedestrian was killed in a crash south of the Ross Island Bridge early Saturday, police say.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a crash about 12:48 a.m. on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard at Franklin Street, according to Portland police. They located a pedestrian with fatal injuries and the involved driver, who remained at the scene.
Investigators determined the pedestrian, a man, was likely crossing to the west side of McLoughlin Boulevard when a southbound driver hit him, according to police. On Monday, officials identified him as 34-year-old Joshua Gray Stanley, of Portland.
Man in wheelchair killed in crash December 17 2020
Portland police say 56 people have died on city streets so far this year, five more than in all of 2019.
Portland traffic fatalities are nearing a grim milestone the highest number in 24 years.
Police said the 56th traffic fatality in the city this year occurred Wednesday evening when a vehicle collided with a wheelchair in Southwest Portland.
That is six more than the 50 deaths in 2019, which was the highest number since the 59 people killed on Portland streets in 1996.
The most recent victim is idntified as Clayton Chamberlin, 66. His next of kin has been notified of his death.
