Suspicious activity investigated
WINTER HARBOR Officer Eli Brown received a report on May 12 of suspicious activity off the Birch Harbor Road involving a local man showing up and wanting service at a business that has been closed for over a year.
Traffic issues
On May 15, Officer Ken Schuurman saw a maroon Subaru with a broken windshield. He checked the registration of the vehicle, which came back to a Jeep. Schuurman stopped the vehicle and issued the driver, Daniel Schuch, 25, of Gouldsboro, a summons on a charge of Illegal attachment of registration plates.
Brown spoke to two teenagers who were riding bicycles in the road, one without a helmet, on May 12. He told them that helmets are required and to not ride in the road.

Police deal with unattended deaths
WINTER HARBOR Police Chief Danny Mitchell Jr. was asked to complete a well-being check at a residence on Hillcrest Drive, where a man was found deceased in his apartment on April 29. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was notified and will be conducting an exam.
Mitchell also was called to a medical incident on Hillcrest Drive on May 7. When police arrived, the person Mitchell was checking on was found deceased. Medical teams arrived to confirm.
Arrest
While on patrol on May 1, Officer Ken Schuurman recognized a woman walking on Main Street as Lindsay Swanson, 28, of Steuben. Schuurman verified her identity and then arrested Swanson for having two outstanding warrants. She was taken to Hancock County Jail.

Drivers charged with operating after suspension
WINTER HARBOR On April 4, Officer Eli Brown charged Susan Morrill, 57, of Steuben and Winter Harbor with operating after suspension, failure to give correct name and date of birth, operating with a license expired over 90 days and refusing to submit to arrest or detention. An Acadia National Park ranger assisted.
On April 9, Officer Ken Schuurman stopped Alvin Dyer, 63, of Gouldsboro and charged him with operating after suspension. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Bail violation
Domestic incident
Schuurman was asked April 2 to meet with a person who had been involved in a domestic incident earlier in the week. The individual wanted to gather some belongings from a residence. Schuurman was unable to assist at the time, as the homeowner was unavailable.
