The Ohio Supreme Court has exposed an issue worth examining and reforming − bail − but amending the state constitution is not the path to change.

What Issue 1 does is ask judges to consider public safety when determining what constitutes a reasonable bail.

If passed, it would require judges to consider public safety along with other factors when setting bail.

Issue 1 would remove the Ohio Supreme Court’s authority on determining bail amounts and conditions. There are strong advocates and opponents for this proposal.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and his challenger Nan Whaley dont agree on much, but they are both voting "yes" on statewide constitutional amendments.
