Olympic champions Russian and European champions France drew 28-28 as both remain on course to reach the European Women s Handball Championship semi-finals.
In a rematch of the 2018 final, Russia led for most of the game but fell behind late on and needed a last-minute equaliser to escape with a point.
Olga Fomina scored with only six seconds remaining to draw Russia level, and end France s run of seven straight European Championship victories.
It was only Fomina s second shot of the match, but she scored both.
