As they closed in to make an arrest, the suspect opened fire, shooting a weapon at the officers. They fired back. The man, who police say was in his early 20s, was fatally wounded. He has since died from his injuries. The two officers and the k9 were not hurt. Police are waiting to release the suspects name until family has been notified. As part of procedure, te two officers involved in the shooting are now on paid administrative leave. The Iowa Division of criminal investigation is looking into the incident.
