New Brunswick's Farm Practices Review Board ruled this week that Coastal Shell Products doesn't qualify as an agricultural operation, which means a citizens' group can resume its application for a court injunction to shut down the Richibucto-based shell-processing plant.

A processing plant in eastern New Brunswick has had its operating licence renewed, with the condition that it install odour control technology within a year.

With Coastal Shell Products' approval to operate up for renewal at the end of July, many residents of Richibucto wonder what it will take to shut down the shellfish plant that's been stinking up their town for years. 

The reprieve from the reek of rotting shellfish in Richibucto was disappointingly short-lived, say residents who have long complained about the smell wafting through their community.

After enduring years of fishy smells wafting in the air, neighbours of Richibucto's Coastal Shell Products are now breathing easier.
