99 Cent Only Stores are shutting down their 371 locations, with operators blaming the flailing business on unmanageable inflation and theft.

The 99 Cents Only Stores company has announced that they will close down all 371 stores in Arizona, California, Texas, and Nevada.

Some customers found out about it on the news, but most employees say they never saw it coming.

In a statement released by the company, 99 Cents Only Stores LLC announced on April 4 that it plans to commence an orderly wind-down of all its business operations.

At least a dozen Central Valley 99 Cents Only Stores are closing as part of a surprise announcement Thursday evening that the Los Angeles-based chain is winding down operations. Altogether the chain has 371 stores
