China's BBK connects with Indian companies for phone production

Chinas leading mobile phone manufacturer, BBK Group, is set to commence production of Oppo, Vivo, and Realme smartphones in collaboration with Indian firms Dixon Technologies and Karbonn Group, as per informed sources. This move is partly driven by government pressure to engage local partners and leverage the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for phone manufacturing

Realme: China's BBK connects with Indian companies for phone production, ET Telecom

Two industry executives said Vivo and Realme recently began manufacturing a few handsets through a plant owned by Karbonn. Dixon is in the final stages of signing with Oppo and Vivo for contract manufacturing, according to them. As of now, monthly production capacity for Vivo and Realme in the Karbonn plant is around one million units, while the Dixon production will be lower to begin with, they said.

India wearable market grows 34% to 134 million units in 2023; Boat, Noise lead: IDC, ET Telecom

Boat led the overall wearables market with a volume share of 26% in 2023. Noise slotted into the second spot with a 12.1% share, while Fire-Boltt ranked third with a 10.1% share, IDC data showed. Oppo (including OnePlus) ranked fourth with a 7.8% share, while Boult Audio rounded off at the fifth spot with a 6.9% share.
