India News: Two opposition MLAs of Assam Assembly were briefly suspended for raising issues regarding anomalies in the Education Department. Congress Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed highlighted severe irregularities in the recently held school evaluation system 'Gunotsav'.

The resolution was brought by independent MLA Akhil Gogoi. The resolution was on the irrigation system. Out of 77 MLAs in the BJP-led alliance, the Government garnered 39 votes. 30 votes were polled in favour of the resolution from 47 opposition MLAs. Earlier the resolution was put to voice vote and Speaker Biswajit Daimary declared the resolution as defeated. Opposition members including Gogoi demanded voting as they claimed that the ruling party did not have the numbers.

Opposition MLAs stage a walkout from the Assam Assembly following a ruckus over losses incurred by the state government in the Gorukhuti project.
