A strong nor'easter with a gross combo of snow, rain, strong winds and coastal flooding is expected to pummel Massachusetts over the next couple of days.

The nor'easter that was hyped up as the biggest one to hit the Boston-area in years never came to fruition -- missing to the south and ending up on a milk carton for much of the region.

The spillover flooded roadways and a town administrator expects significant coastal erosion from the storm.

With a winter storm impacting Massachusetts on Tuesday, here's a look at the expected timing of the nor'easter.

Snow misses south Tuesday, but air travel to be disrupted

There is also a threat of flooding on the South Shore of Massachusetts, where one community is concerned about a crumbling seawall.

Schools in Boston, Brookline, Needham, Wellesley, Weston, Watertown, which all boarder Newton, are closed for the day.

Atmospheric conditions didn't come together Tuesday as originally expected, which kept the brunt of the storm to our south.

MassDOT Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver says the storm is manageable, but warns that a temperature drop later in the day may leave roads treacherous.

A nor'easter could dump several inches of snow across Massachusetts from Monday night into Tuesday.
