CLEVELAND, Ohio – Seventy Ohio craft breweries are joining forces in a massive collaboration to produce From the Heart, a beer to raise money for the Ohio Craft Brewers Association.
Brewer Mark Hunger of Great Lakes Brewing Co. in Cleveland helped develop the recipe, the organization said, along with John Haggerty of Warped Wing Brewing in Dayton. Both are OCBA board members.
These women have made history during their respective eras, paving the way for others in their fields.
And all three have been commemorated by a Cincinnati brewery for International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8.
After rolling out “Annie” and “Ruth” beers in past years, MadTree Brewing Co. will release its “Malala” American pale ale March 8 in honor of the Pakistani activist and youngest-ever Nobel Prize winner.
“It was the first time that we had an all-female staff brewing, cellaring, (collecting data) and even packaging,” said MadTree production manager Brittany Frey. “We were able to have a complete female operation from beginning to end.”
