The Henry County Board took another step in the repair and restoration of the courthouse and county governmental complex, commissioning two studies for the work by Klingler and Associates at Thursday s meeting.
The first study, the Courthouse Master Facility Plan, will be used as a roadmap for sequencing the repairs and letting bids. The second study involves asbestos testing throughout the courthouse complex.
The asbestos testing is necessary for fine-tuning the abatement and specialty landfill costs, when the project gets to that point, officials said. The study costs are a drop in the bucket compared to litigation for asbestos exposure, said State s Attorney Catherine Runty prior to the board approving both studies.
