Summary
Background. The NRM party performed poorly in Luweero during the recent general election compared to previous elections after the majority of the positions in the district were scooped by members of the Opposition. Of the 40 district councillors, the NRM only has six.
Even in the presidential election, National Unity Platform former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi defeated the incumbent President Museveni in the district, scoring 103,782 votes (70.45 per cent) against Museveni’s 41,166 votes.
