Cut back to 2023, it has become a bone of contention between top telecom players - Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea vs the internet companies and startups. As many as 100 startups and internet firms have voiced their concerns against telecom players’ demand for a fair share charge to be imposed on OTT players for using telecom network infrastructure. Any move towards overregulation of internet companies or OTT services, might have discriminatory consequences, they said.
