For the next six months, the case lay cold with no leads, clues or suspects. One of the challenges in the investigation was that there were no CCTVs on Nelson Mandela Marg or nearby and none of the witnesses could read the registration number of the car used by the accused.
Initially, police thought Soumya died in an accident; it was the autopsy that showed she was shot dead. The case lay in cold storage for six months and was solved when another woman, Jigisha Ghosh, was targeted and murdered in a similar manner in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj in 2009. “
