5th-grade students from schools within the Regional Office of Education #33 will be descending on Lake Storey Thursday for the 35th Ken Russell Outdoor Education Day. The Outdoor Education Day started in 1985 only taking one year off, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be over 50 Volunteer Presenters greeting over 500 fifth-grade students from Knox County Schools and their teachers while they rotate through eight different stations on outdoor and environmental education topics throughout the day. Some of the station topics include Aquatics, Renewable Resources Scavenger Hunt, Butterflies and Bees, Native American History, Nature Trivia, Weather, as well as the student favorite annual Fishing Station led by Al Hayden. Jodi Scott, Regional Superintendent of Schools for ROE #33, says she's proud to offer this great program that has been a tradition of the Regional Office of Education for many years.
