A 26-year-old Detroit man allegedly tried to run over police officers early Friday morning at a gas station on Schoolcraft near Outer Drive on Detroit's west side.

The driver was pumping gas into a truck that police had been searching for. When they found it, the suspect got in the truck and proceeded to ram the officer, hitting him.

The suspect has repeatedly fled police before he stopped at a BP station to fill up gas. When he saw police again, he drove into one of the officers, who returned fire.

The suspect, who was on probation, remained hospitalized Friday, police said, while the officer who shot him is on leave.
