Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles are to benefit from government investment over 10 years.

Scotlands island communities are to receive £100 million in a landmark deal that could spark a jobs boom in areas battling depopulation.

The scheme will see the UK and Scottish Governments each commit £50 million to projects benefitting Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles

Minister Malcolm Offord signed the full deal, which includes £50m investment by the UK Government, at a joint event in Orkney.
