After another successful festival, after more awards were handed out, and after more packed-out shows, the organisers of the Wexford Drama Festival could afford to momentarily relax, to allow themselves to reflect on a job well done. And this year, more than most, was a time for reflection. Now in its 60th year, the festival has become a focal point in the calendar for those with a love of theatre, and those behind the scenes are acutely aware of the responsibility they face in maintaining old traditions.
With over 1,500 people making up 30 groups in this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade in Bray, it was a difficult task for the judges to decide on the worthy winners, who were presented with their awards in the Town Hall last Thursday by the team at Bray Chamber of Commerce.
Green was undeniably the colour last Friday as Longford town and its 10,000 plus citizens savoured the return of the annual St Patrick s Day Parade. All-Ireland.
