State police needed to combat insecurity, Akeredolu insists

Punch Newspapers Sections Peter Dada, Akure The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, called for a multi-level policing system, saying it is the best way to take the country out of the security challenge it is facing in recent times. The governor also emphasised that the issue of state police had become more necessary than ever. Akeredolu stated this at the state Christian service in commemoration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, held at St. Benedict Military Catholic Church, Owena Cantonment of the Nigerian Army, Ondo Road, Akure, on Sunday. The governor also said there was a need for more provision of modern equipment for the Nigerian military to help in their fight against insurgents and other criminalities in the country.
