Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the 27 local government results announced in the November 11, 2023 governorship poll in Imo State

Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won in all 27 local government areas of Imo State in Saturday’s governorship election. The collation of results started around 2 a.m. on Sunday in Owerri, the state capital. Eighteen parties fielded candidates in the election but Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress won in all 27 local government areas in the state, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The ICPC has nabbed six suspected vote buyers during the Saturday, November 11 poll in Imo. The commission also recovered N4.1 million from the suspects.

The Labour Party in Imo State has vowed to challenge the declaration of Governor Hope Uzodimma as the winner of the Saturday's governorship election held in the state. At a press conference in Owerri, the state capital, the LP chairman in the state, Callistus Ihejiagwa, said that the process that brought Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress as the reelected governor of the state was faulty and full of electoral irregularities.

The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who was declared winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in the state, has urged his major contenders, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party to move the state forward. Uzodimma who spoke in Owerri, the state capital on Sunday shortly after he was declared the winner of the poll, said that his next four years in office would hugely benefit the state.
