Political clouds are gathering in Nyanza region as politicians who were swept aside by political tides in the 2013 and 2017 elections begin to build campaign war chests with an eye on the 2022 elections.
They include former Raila Odinga’s allies who have been struggling to find a footing after they lost in elections.
With less than two years to the next General Election, the politicians have started throwing their hats into the ring in what is set to shape the region’s political landscape.
Some are using the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) drive as well as humanitarian needs of families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and other natural calamities to be visible again politically.

And his entry into local politics appears to have raised temperatures, with local ODM leaders claiming some politicians who were were not members were out to ruin the party.
Woman Representative Gladys Wanga on Saturday said the party would use today’s BBI rally to “call the house to order”.
“Our meeting tomorrow is first of all to root for the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020. We will have all the ODM delegates in Homa Bay County together with all the elected leaders,” she said, adding:
Evans Kidero To Vie for Homa Bay Governor Seat in 2022
Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has expressed interest in vying for the Homa Bay Governor’s seat in 2022.
Kidero, who was defeated by Mike Sonko in 2017, hopes to succeed Cyprian Awiti.
The former governor confirmed his intentions to Standard newspaper, saying he has been approached by locals to go for it as one of their ‘sons’.
“It is something I am considering very seriously,” he revealed.
His entry into the field would certainly complicate matters for other hopefuls, among them ODM chairman John Mbadi and Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.
Also interested in the seat is a host of 2017 losers, among them Oyugi Magwanga who emerged second.
