Warren Young Explorers School’s founding board of directors formally introduced their plans to develop a charter school in Warren County during the first of three community interest meetings on Feb.

Delli Carpini will begin his appointment as interim dean on June 1, with the permanent dean expected to start as early as fall 2023. 

The Oscar H. Gandy Emeritus Professor of Communication and Democracy at the Annenberg School, and dean from 2003 to 2018, Delli Carpini is currently concluding a term as the inaugural faculty director of Penn’s Stavros Niarchos Foundation Paideia Program.

The first cohort of fellows is set to graduate, taking with them the pillars of the SNF Paideia Program—dialogue, citizenship, service, and wellness—on their next life adventures.

The new Biology and Society course, supported by SNF Paideia, gave biology majors the chance to explore how scientists must contend with subjects such as health equity and vaccine hesitancy.

SNF Paideia aims to instill in Penn undergraduates the skills and ethical frameworks to be engaged citizens. 

The course will be held for the second time this fall, and students will have more opportunities to hear from public officials and visit government spaces.
