Negros Oriental is expecting lower retail rice prices with the start of the harvest season, according to a Department of Agriculture (DA) official. Alejandro Rafal, provincial officer of the DA-Provincial Agriculture Technology Coordinating Office (Patco), told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that while the province is not self-sufficient in rice, the harvest could help bring down the cost of the staple even after the lifting of the price cap set by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. under Executive Order 39.
