The pandemic may have slowed almost everything, but it doesn’t mean that you must stop and forget about your business ventures just because of the current situation. These days, almost all businesses are going digital, and they are not limited to just brick-and-mortar stores anymore. The internet has paved the way for entrepreneurs to showcase their products online, extending their reach to an even wider market. If they can do it, so can you.
The popularity of online businesses has increased during the lockdown period where most people are stuck at home and physical stores for non-essential businesses must close temporarily (and some, for good). According to Zalora Philippines CEO Paolo Campos, 91% of Filipino internet users searched for goods and services to purchase and out of this, 76% completed the transaction. A Global Web Index survey also showed that 48% of Filipinos look forward to doing more online shopping even after the pandemic is over.
Vas Dinis wins in Rotary speech contest
Each year Rotary clubs in the Valley and foothills host speech contests, with the finalists from each of the 12 areas going on to compete at the District 5220 level. Ceres Rotary hosted Zoom contests at the school, club and area-level during January and February.
The Ceres Rotary Club’s contest on Jan. 29 drew five speech givers via Zoom. Claiming first place and $125 was Ceres High School junior Elijah Vas Dinis. The second place spot was earned by Paolo Campos, a senior at Central Valley High School who earned $100. Ceres High School freshman Kiera Valdovinos took third place and $75. Honorable mentions went to Manhoor Kahloon, a Ceres High School senior; and Olivia Davis, a Whitmore Charter High School junior.
