The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested former Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh in an alleged money-laundering case after questioning him for more than 13 hours.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday told a special holiday court here that Anil Deshmukh, Maharashtra's former home minister, was the "prime beneficiary" of proceeds of crime and directly involved in the offence of money laundering in which he has been arrested.

The news comes a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation apprehended a middleman from Thane, Santosh Jagtap, for allegedly acting as a conduit for corruption deals and fleeing arrest.

They claimed Deshmukh was evasive during questioning and the agency will seek his custody after producing him before a local court
