Funding has been secured by Louth CC to commence work on some of Dunleers notorious footpaths. Provisional marking and scanning for utilities has taken place on 50m of footpath at St Brigids Terrace on the Dundalk Road and 150m of pathway from Drumgooles house to the fire station in the town. Dunleers footpaths have become so bad that wheelchair users are now unable to access certain parts of the town. Major concerns have been expressed for months about stretches at St Brigids Terrace, the Barn Road and the Ardee Road. The Ardee Road has now gotten so bad, it is proving unbearable for many local residents as its a trip hazard. Cathaoirleach of Louth CC, Dolores Minogue says action must be taken.
