Russias high-tech imports. the western alliance raising the stakes on friday with both the european union and the u.s. announcing direct sanctions on putin himself and his foreign minister, sergey lavrov. president biden has been blunt about the goal. >> putin is the aggressor. putin chose this war. now he and his country will bear the consequences. putins aggression against ukraine will end up costing russia dearly, economically, and strategically. we will make sure of that. putin will be a par...

How long can you hold out with this massive warship of $600 billion of foreign reserves? how quickly would they be depleted? what would happen if they are cut off from the transaction system, the big one of course would be if we cut them off from microchips based on u.s. property, so this has to be in the back of his mind, but frankly, listening to the speech the other night, which i am sure you heard, the amount of grievances and anger and regionalism that was in his words were really quite ast...

Is going to give additional defense capability to ukraine. but it would clearly sent a message to you russia that taking aim at ukraine is taking aim at europe as a whole. joe? >> and is there anything else your can do to send a message to russia? put more pressure on putin. we know theyre not gonna put troops on the ground in ukraine. but what are some of the other options that are still on the table? >> well, theres really these two tracks going on right now. youve got the european countries t...

But asked far more like an authoritarian cult of personality under donald trump. if you cross donald trump in any way, if you refuse to follow his orders, that you do become a pariah. even if you were the head of the republican conference as liz cheney was but she does speak for millions of republicans in the country as does adam kinzinger. the ten republicans who voted to impeach trump for insurrection and the seven republicans in the senate who voted to convict them for that, that was the most...

There is not a whole lot they are willing to do to truly stop war, and so what we do have at their disposal, the bully pulpit, the biden administration is using from the very beginning going back as far as november, they have been very outfront about what putin is doing, how hes trying to maybe trick the global stage into thinking that this war would be justified by launching a disinformation campaign. they talked about potential that putin would try to put a puppet government into ukraine. thes...

Russia will ensure the demilitarisation of ukraine. its time, the west thinks, for sanctions against sergei lavrov and vladimir putin. their foreign assets are being frozen by britain and the eu. personal sanctions against vladimir putin sends a strong message. it shows that western leaders view him increasingly as a pariah. but will it make the kremlin leader change course? almost certainly not. because president putin seems determined to continue with his military plan. and heres part of it. t...
