Police arrested a man who could face charges of attempted homicide, elder abuse, child abuse, and arson after he set his ex-girlfriend's National City home ablaze.

Just before Macy Mendoza walked out of her home to head to her high school graduation last month, her 12-year-old brother, Maximilian, who was known as Max, congratulated her.
“I’m so proud of you, Macy,” Max told his 17-year-old sister. “No one tells you, but I’m so proud of you.”
Then they hugged for what would be the last time.
On Saturday morning, Max died in a shooting at the Chula Vista condo where he lived with his mother and four sisters. The circumstances surrounding the shooting at the Woodland Hills condominium complex on Telegraph Canyon Road were unclear and remained under investigation Sunday.
