The events currently unfolding in India do not impact Indians alone, but have a seismic impact on the rest of the world.
Words like ‘disaster’, ‘tragedy’, and ‘pandemic’ do no justice to the pathos currently enveloping the world’s largest democracy. As the infrastructure crumbled, piece by piece, from testing to hospital beds; from medicines to oxygen; from cemetery space to (now) vaccines, Indians (including many global citizens) rallied to save their near and dear ones. However, even as the English language fails to adequately capture the situation that has been unraveling in India, we take inspiration from the lyrics of Gloria Gaynor’s 1978 classic – ‘We will survive’ and …. will emerge stronger.
