JOLIET, IL A 46-year-old man died at Silver Cross Hospital following a vicious pit bull attack at a Joliet house in the 1200 block of Arthur Avenue. At 6:27 p.m., a Joliet Fire Station 4 ambulance crew rushed to a house on Arthur Avenue for a dog bite incident, fire Chief Greg Blaskey said.
The man, identified Friday as Erick J. Quinn of Joliet, was found on the floor with no pulse. He was not breathing, and a Joliet police officer performed CPR on the victim, the fire chief said.

ormer city of Joliet corporation counsel Marty Shanahan, the city has worked out a financial settlement to resolve Shanahan s lawsuit at the Will County Courthouse.
Sources told Joliet Patch the settlement is about $200,000 for Shanahan, who has retained the Naperville law firm of Shawn Collins. As part of the settlement, Shanahan agrees he will not apply for any jobs at the city of Joliet for at least a couple years, Patch has learned.

JOLIET, IL Joliet s zoning board of appeals, in a unanimous vote Thursday afternoon, rejected the MorningStar Mission s plan to convert Joliet s Quality Inn at 135 South Larkin Ave. into an emergency homeless shelter.
In order for the homeless shelter project to happen, MorningStar Mission needs a rezoning variance and a special use permit from the Joliet City Council. The zoning board s decision is only a recommendation. The City Council has the final say on the project.
