Residents will have a chance to voice their feelings on a horse track proposal and preferred form of town government during the town election May 21.

Job growth slowed in Connecticut during the month of April as the state added 1,600 jobs, according to the state Department of Labor.    Connecticut’s unemployment rate shrunk from 4.6% to 4.4%, the labor department said. The private sector led the way with a gain of 1,900 new jobs, while the government sector shed a net 300 jobs.  Labor officials also said they revised March’s job gains downward  from 4,600 new positions created to 3,700. 

“April’s job growth builds on the momentum we saw in February and March,” said Patrick Flaherty, research director at the Department of Labor.
